December '09 in Buenos Aires

From the older wooden type of "Metrovias" cars and older "Lima" station to the newer version on the right, the subway system in Buenos Aires opened in December 1913 and is the oldest system in Latin America, the Southern hemisphere and the Spanish-speaking world. Today it moves over a million passengers daily.

We find ourselves hopping a cab, jumping on a bus or commuting by the subway system several times a week. The choice of transportation system depends on; weather, destination and time of day or night. Taxi, the most expensive selection, might set you back $10 U.S. for a trip across the city. Bus and subway fares are much cheaper.
